Interview with Erik on the introduction of the 2S generation

Q: Erik, could you start by telling us about Tyro Remotes and the kind of products you develop?

Erik: Absolutely. At Tyro Remotes, we specialize in creating wireless control systems for various machinery, mobile equipment, and agricultural vehicles. You might see our remote controls in action on trucks, trailers, and even in large automated warehouses. We’re based in Almelo, and our products are designed to be robust and reliable, catering to a wide range of industrial applications.

Q: Recently, Tyro Remotes became part of the American company Cattron. How has this change impacted your operations?

Erik: Joining Cattron has indeed been a significant shift for us. It expanded our market reach dramatically and introduced new frequency and safety requirements for our products. This transition has opened up a world of opportunities, allowing us to meet diverse and more stringent international standards.

Q: What are some of the key markets and applications for Tyro Remotes’ products?

Erik: We cater to very specific needs in various industries, providing custom radio remote controls for large machines, pumps, winches, gates, and vehicles. The safety and stability of our radio signals are crucial, especially in today’s crowded signal environment. Our devices need to maintain reliable connections without interfering with other equipment.

Q: Can you tell us about the latest developments at Tyro Remotes, particularly the new 2S generation?

Erik: We’re very excited about the new 2S generation. These products represent a significant step forward in wireless control technology. They offer worldwide frequency support and feature an always-duplex connection for real-time feedback, which ensures precise and immediate communication between devices. The modular and configurable software architecture, known as combi-code, simplifies integration and allows for greater functionality and customization.

Q: How do these new features benefit your customers?

Erik: The benefits are substantial. The 2S products support multiple transmitters per receiver and vice versa, providing incredible system design and application flexibility. A new method of configuration makes programming and displaying digital and analog inputs and outputs very easy and improves usability. We can easily set and link each output individually to the transmitter buttons. In addition, the output modes can be changed to settings such as: momentary, latching, reverse or combined. We can also customize menu structures and display a wide range of messages and values up to 10 menus. Setting up your remote control set is quick and hassle-free, thanks to the simplified pairing sequence. Frequency hopping capabilities ensure a stable connection even in challenging environments.

Q: What future developments can we expect from Tyro Remotes?

Erik: We’re focused on transforming our custom products into modular blocks. This approach aims to standardize our offerings while maintaining the flexibility to build tailored solutions for each customer. We’re constantly looking to enhance our products’ user-friendliness and appearance, leveraging advancements in artificial intelligence to access faster and more comprehensive knowledge. This helps us keep pace with technological changes and continue growing.

Q: What excites you the most about the future of Tyro Remotes?

Erik: The potential for innovation is vast. We’re working hard on new designs and functionalities to make our products more recognizable and user-friendly. The evolving landscape of robotics and automation opens up new opportunities for us in industries like warehousing, where efficiency and precision are paramount. Staying ahead through continuous innovation makes my job fascinating every day. With our updated support for worldwide frequencies, we now support all major frequencies: 434, 868, 915 MHz and 2.4 GHz. I am looking forward to seeing the Tyro products used all over the world. Also, upgrading the safety level to PL-d is something I would like to see happen, an upcoming topic on our agenda.

Q: Any final thoughts?

Erik: The new 2S generation is a testament to our dedication to innovation and customer-centric design. We’re excited to see how these advancements will help our clients improve their operations and stay ahead in a fast-paced technological world.
