Robert Adler can be called as the inventor of the remote control. Adler, who died in 2007 at the age of 93, worked at a television set manufacturer Zenith during the nineteen fifties, which introduced the device that worked on the basis of ultrasonic sound.

Due to the invention of the remote control, the viewing habits of the television viewers got changed considerably as they discovered the new trend of 'zapping’. The American company Philco was already producing a wireless remote control for radio before 1939, that could adjust both the volume and the transmitter remotely.
